I really enjoy using the Areas tool to create different sections that can have different patterns (fills) applied to them. But it seems that at some point (and Jorge has tried to explain the reason for this) Areas are turned into Stitch Packs. Once that happens I can find no way to edit anything but the thread color. In the Object Manager there is little information when you select a Stitch Pack, unlike the great amount of information when you select an Area. Is there a way to prevent Areas from becoming Stitch Packs, and thus losing the ability to fine tune the design element?

Ken, Probably what is happening is that you are not saving the file as a DSG, or are opening the expanded file by mistake. When you save as a machine file (DST, PES) you are converting to stitch packs. Save first as DSG (design file) then export to your favorite machine file to run a sew-out. If you save these file to seperate locations, you will know which are editable and which ones are for your machine. Hope this helps

Ian,

I do save as a DSG to a folder called SEU, and then when I´m ready to stitch out a test, I export another one as a DST to either another folder on my hard drive, or straight to a Flash Drive to transfer.

The program will only let you do a SAVE once you have a DSG already saved, otherwise it starts out with a SAVE AS to establilsh the filename (your extension choice is DSG), or allows you to SAVE AS to give it another name or to increment your changes.

I´m working on a design right now, and so far only one segment has been changed to a stitch pack, and I have no idea why.

So one answer is that if you change the stitch which got you to a new Section to a Jump Stitch, that will automatically add a 2 stitch section, and change both that and the new Section to Stitch Packs. These can be changed back through an UNDO if done quickly.
