I am trying to rotate some lettering and no matter what font I use, when I press control to rotate it I get "Access violation at address 465848OE. Read of address 465848OE. What am I doing wrong?

Lettering is not one object nor one block while it´s still in text mode - it´s a text string. So, make sure you´re not rotating it as an object or block.

As soon as the text comes up on the screen, while it´s still in text mode, Ctrl+clicking on the bottom right corner will usually let you rotate it. Unless it´s one of those layouts that doesn´t accommodate for rotation.

That would be the other thing to check for, make sure you choose the appropriate layout.

If you already "exploded" the text, then it´s not in text mode anymore, and now it´s a group of objects, so you´d basically draw a bow around the entire text, then Ctrl+click on bottom right node to rotate it - at that point it´s a "block" operation.

I meant to draw a box around the text to select it as a block (not a bow).

I have put an outline around it too, and to no avail...Any other suggestions, I am under a deadline.

"That would be the other thing to check for, make sure you choose the appropriate layout." How do I do that?

What I mean is, not every layout will let you rotate the text on the screen. Which layout are you using?

Also, are you on v9.20? There were a few issues with lettering on v9.00 and v9.10.

Yes, I am in 9.2. When I click on version updated, it says system is up to date. How do I get the next corrected version?

No, that´s ok, v9.20 is the latest version. Ok, I´m not having difficulty rotating text when I use the straight box layout, or even the arc.

1. I need to know the specifics, is this a keyboard Font, a True Type or a Monogram? And what´s the name?

2. It probably won´t hurt to submit a ticket from your Stitch Era, so we get the diagnostic files from your install, just in case something looks out of whack there. Just click on the question mark icon at the top right corner of your Stitch Era screen, go to Support Tools and send us a submit from there, it´ll come through with the diagnostic files we need to look at.

3. I wouldn´t think this would be the problem, because it would´ve shown up in other things you work on too, but we can´t rule it out either, so make sure you´re using the video card setting in the highest number possible, ideally 3:

I submitted a request to Support Tools - does that get responded to in my email? Also, I watched the youtube video and changed my card to 3 - nothing. I have also had other error messages, but just have not had time to report until now. Let me know if you need anything else.

I didn´t get anything, so I don´t know if the main office is working with you directly on this or not. I know Jorge monitors this list, so he´ll tell me if that´s the case.

What I can tell you is that I´ve tried over 10 different scenarios with Fonts, True Types, Monograms, changing from one layout to the next and back to the previous one, and no matter what I try, a simple Ctrl+click on the bottom right corner of the text box rotates the text for me every single time.

You´re right about the video card setting though, it didn´t make a difference with the rotation. I tried with the setting down to 0, and the screen and cursor would be awfully jerky (I use the big crosshairs for cursor), but it still rotated every time.

Here´s a question that just dawned on me last night... is this the same computer where you used to have the old EO Edit?

Elana, where are we at on this rotating issue you were having? It´s Saturday now, and the main office will be closed on Monday due to a local holiday, so just let me know through this forum, or support@technologysouth.com.

If you are still having issues, the 2 files I was looking for are EOINST.LOG and PIC.BLG, and they´re in one of the hidden folders, listed below based on the OS you have:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sierra\Logs (XP)
C:\Program Data\Sierra\Logs (Vista)

If you can´t see one of the above folders, Windows is set to "hide" it. Here´s how you "unhide" it:
