Could someone explain what the file format "exp.eox" is? I use EXP for my machine but have never seen this eox extention. Thanks!

Raven, the EOX is an extra file created on export, that allows the software to view an expanded file with the color pallete and design info that you´ve assigned in ERA. This also makes it so that you can see "actual" thumbnails in the preview window and catalogs.

Thanks, Ian. I was thinking that might be the case.

Raven, to expand a bit more on what Ian said, here´s an article that was written a few years ago for an earlier version of our commercial software, but the concept is the same:

Thanks for that extra info, Daniel~! That link was VERY interesting, I started reading through ALL the posts . I know some of the info pertains to earlier versions, but I still find it helpful.......and discovered a couple of YouTube tutorials.... One in particular, "Stitch Era Universal - Digitizing Modes - Part 1" gave me good insight to a couple of features I hadn´t discovered yet, but the no-voice left me wondering what was going on in a few sections: between the time of 7:00 and 7:12, what are the yellow squares being moved? First I thought they might be nodes, but the stitches didn´t appear to be moved. (I know this question is getting away from the EXP topic, but I didn´t know if I should move the conversation to another list)

Is there any reason as to why my software stopped exporting/saving with the .eox additional file?

Thanks!

The EOX file is saved by default every time you export a design in machine format (stitch file, ie. DST, EXP, PES, etc). There is no option to turn this off.

What has happened a few times is that people would think that their stitch file is visible and the EOX is not, when in reality your stitch file may be "hidden" by Windows, and what you´re really seeing is the EOX file.

A simple right-click on the file should answer the question if you go to "properties" and read the actual extension.

Or, better yet, have Windows show all "hidden" and "registered" files:
