If I have 3 licenses to activate - how am I allowed to let 3 students work on d-era at the same time when I only have one dongle?

I was wondering the same thing. I have a 4 seat perpetual license.. Any advise would be great..

As I´m sure you´ve learned over the long time since you asked the question, you can´t do what you are describing with a single dongle.
"3 activations" means that one serial #/license can be installed and activated on up to 3 machines at one time. For example, for a single user who wants to move between a PC, a laptop, and another PC. But the dongle must go with that person.
If you replace an old PC with a new one, you can replace one of the 3 activations w/ the new PC, however, that doesn´t have any effect on the fact that you still need the one dongle that came with the software, wherever the user goes.
As such, it is not possible to buy one seat/license and have two different people use it on two different PC´s at the same time.
Else, you´d need to purchase two (or it sounds like in your case, 3) different licenses.
