Has anyone installed the new version 15 download? I´m having trouble with it and can´t seem to get a response from anyone at Sierra.

Kim, I sent you an email a bit earlier this evening, please reply to that email address with any issues that require immediate attention (24/7 email support is part of your Extended Support Plan option).

I do find v15 to be very stable. That said, I really didn´t have any major issues w/ v11.41 either, so my feedback may not be as useful as someone else´s who maybe had major issues on v11 and has now migrated to v15.

I do like the added functionality of the Smart Design tool on v15, and I really didn´t think I´d get used to it as quickly as I did. To the point where it´s not bothering me ( a shortcut guy) that I can´t assign keyboard shortcuts to some of the creation tools. I´ve done several designs already on v15 for other v11 / v15 users (v11 users can read the DSG created on v15, much to my surprise and their benefit).

I´m a believer in "if it´s not broken, don´t fix it." So I´m wondering why anyone who has upgraded from v11 to v15 (what? skipped 3 version #s? Trying to outdo Microsoft here?) has chosen to do so.

I´ve looked but haven´t found any release notes about v15 or really any specs or features that show what the improvements over v11 are. Can someone fill me in if they have this info?

Improved stability (less crashing) would be nice, but I haven´t heard definitive evidence that it´s more stable.

Being that I have 4 or 5 licenses to upgrade if we decide to do so, it´s not trivial in terms of cost, time to get setup on a new version, or re-learning software.

We are very much interested in finding out if there are features in v15 that would benefit us, make work faster, more efficient, etc, but so far I haven´t been able to find out any info other than really, "hey we have this new version, you should buy it."

Any info about the new version 15 (especially release notes) provided would be most helpful. Thanks.

Release notes have been listed on this same site for some time now:
http://www.d-era.com/LiveUpdate/HTM/1500_9.htm

As for version numbers, the original v11.00 was released in 2011, with subsequent updates all the way to v11.41 in the 2-3 yrs that followed. And now v15 is the 2015 code, hence the numbers.

Mark, the upgrade will trigger two separate auto emails, first email is the order confirmation and second email is invoice and password info. If you haven´t gotten email #2, there is no v15 password issued yet.

Looked for it, but d-era web site navigation not great, failed to find it through that site. Don´t know how else to access the posted release notes other than the link you provided in this thread (thank you).

Will do an upgrade on one license and see how it goes, then consider it for the rest.

Good to know the explanation behind version control naming.

Thanks again

Jay,

Once I figured out that the permissions error upon output was related to not being logged in as an Admin user on the PC, I simply ensured that the output port (COM3 in my case) was configured correctly (go to Send to CAMS, then after you choose the hoppers for each stone, the next screen is where you can click "Configure"). In my case it had put the baud rate back to 9600 and as soon as I re-set it to 57600 it started allowing me to send the project to CAMS.

But, as I reported in my other thread, it is not calculating the best route, and it is putting a couple stones in the wrong place on each run, making this a no-go for me.

So in the end, I reinstalled 11.41 and that´s what I plan to use from now on until there´s a v15 update that clearly addresses these problems. At that point, I´ll install v15.x on a test PC and test it on the machine, rather than the main PC was normally do runs from, as downgrading to 11.41 takes time to do.

The best of luck to you!

I as well have asked for help and have not received an answer. I have much work to do and have another job as well. Can you tell me when the manual will be up and running? I did purchase the 24/7 help thinking that is what it would be as I work on ERA on the weekends.
