Can this be left in all the time? Since it keeps flashing non-stop, I am concerned about the battery inside the unit giving out. Is it replaceable?

Usual for USB to do that. its source of power is from your pc. Once you take it out. It will stop doing that. Its just an indication that its working in order.

According to the installation booklet: " If the protection device is stolen or lost, Sierra shall not replace it, and the user shall need to acquire a new license at the then current prices, except that the user may have hired directly to Sierra the Replacement Insurance, in which case, it´s terms and conditions shall apply. You may inquire further information about this service sending an e-mail message to info@stitchera.com. This service may not be available in all countries." So it sounds to me like the insurance would be worth having. I plan to look into it, because anything can happen to a dongle like this and to have to purchase an entirely new license due to theft or an accident would be a real shame.
